Folk festivals, art festivals, jazz festivals and music festivals.Viva the band represented Australia at the Tainan International Chihsi Arts Festival in Taiwan in 2004 where they were showcased in street parades, a welcome by the mayor of Tainan and a series of live concerts and television performances daily throughout Taiwan over a period of two weeks. Viva the band has been engaged to perform again in Taiwan for a four week period during July 2005 for the Kenting International Folk Song Festival. Viva the band have performed extensively throughout Asia and are noted for their performances in Sth. Vietnam, Thailand, The Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Guam and Japan.
Viva the band regularly perform at music events and festivals interstate and locally including: Gold Coast Jazz and blues Festival, Newcastle Jazz Festival, Morpeth Jazz Festival, Manly International Jazz Festival , Kiama Jazz and blues Festival, Illawarra Jazz Festival, Central Coast Jazz Leagues, Thredbo Jazz Festival plus Sydney Olympic Park and Darling Harbour music events.
The band is currently enjoying a variety of wonderful venues throughout Sydney performing at a “Moulin Rouge” themed party at Tumbalong Ballroom, “The Miss World Butterfly Ball” at Four Point by Sheraton at Darling Harbour and “Discovery After Dark” at the Australian Maritime Museum, Sydney Royal Easter Show, wine promotions in the Hunter region and the Manly Food and Wine Festival.
Future bookings include invitations to perform in Peru, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, USA, Canada, England, Ireland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Brunei and Sth Africa for a series of events called “The Super Cup of Australia and the Americas” organized by John Patrick of Lima Peru.
Viva the band perform a rich tapestry of music skillfully blending a mixture of: jazz, swing, latin, gypsy jazz , salsa, French , Spanish Songs, cabaret and classic show tunes. Gerri and Jose Santos are the featured vocalists and percussionists for the group. Other members include Peter Rappolt, leader (guitar), Marie Rappolt (bass and musette accordion), Morris David (jazz violin) and Griff Beale (vocal & drums). This line-up creates a “Hot Club of France” style, reminiscent of a French nightclub swing band. Viva the band have become very popular for corporate and private functions, delighting their audiences with their unique and varied styles of music. More information at www.aband.info
