Slick! Zany! Fun to rehearse! This is a musical medical melodrama that will keep us all in stitches! If you can act, sing, move to music, or help backstage (lighting, sound, costuming, make-up, stage management, props, front of house, box office) then here’s the show for you! Director / Choreographer Elaine Waddell is looking for a tight team of talented people who are willing to commit to a challenging but highly enjoyable show. There’s a cast of 20 – age groups are varied with an almost even mix of male and female. The characters are “larger than life”, including the Dastardly Doctor himself (classic melodrama villain), the unbelievably nasty and intimidating head nurse Hilda Hatchet, the incredibly dippy Nurse Ivy Dripp, the squeaky-clean heroine Nurse Wendy March and hero Dr Phil Good, the good-hearted orderly Ward Helper, the slightly tarnished Burlesque beauty Trixie St James, police officer Tommy Gunn, the vague minister Brother Sunbeam, a startling array of patients and a PA system voice over that always breaks up the mood. Newcomers would be most welcome, particularly among the younger set as we need a couple of bright young multi-talented stars for the hero and heroine. Existing members from mid-teen to mid-twilight are all encouraged to audition. Performance dates are between October 10 and 25 2008 (8 evening and 2 daytime). Audition sessions will be held late May & early June. To register your interest for cast or crew and get pre-audition information please ring Elaine on 6495 1350 as soon as possible.
