The season runs February 22nd to March 8th 2008. A large cast is required for this thought-provoking and at times chilling drama that explores issues of particular relevance to our world today. There will be a doubling up of roles, so that most cast members will play specific roles as well as “extras”. Synopsis: On the night of a spectacular meteor shower viewed by all the world, Bill Masen is in hospital awaiting the removal of bandages from his eyes, recovering from a Triffid sting. The next morning he awakes to find he is one of the few left who can see. It is the end of the world as he knows it. He meets Josella Playton, another person who has retained her sight, and together they struggle to build a life together in a world where order and chaos, compassion for others and self-survival jostle for dominance – against a background of the ever-present threat of the lethal Triffids.
