Interactive Live Performance, Anyone? IMMI HQ is looking for expressions of interest for actors in Melbourne to perform in the 2007 Fringe (Sept/Oct). The show is titled DEATH BY CHOCOLATE and is the 4th Interactive Murder Mystery Installation we have created. There is no restriction on age, nationality, or anything, so long as you have the ABILITY (regardless of level of experience) to perform. The show format is along these lines: There are 9 suspects and up to 40 audience (who are playing the role of detectives). They have 2 hours to try and solve the crime. At the start of the evening the Chief of Detectives (another actor who, during rehearsals, will play the part of the victim) will brief the audience on the basic details of the crime and suspects. Suspects and audience mingle (a polite way to say interrogation!) in a room, cocktail style. You will be in character continuously for the 2 hour duration. There is no script, nor set events, only a deep and thorough knowledge of your character. It’s up to your skill as an actor to stay in character. By the end of the rehearsal period you should know your character better than yourself. Interested? Contact Virginia via casting@immihq.com before July 19. Auditions: late July. One-on-one improvisation of a number of characters. Further information available upon request. Rehearsals: full cast once a week (occasionally twice a week) for up to 4 hours. Performances: 6pm Sept 27, 29, Oct 4, 6, 11, 13 (Thursday and Saturdays) at Koko Black, Lygon St, Carlton Payment: paid via in kind thank-you’s (ie, chocolate and after-party supplies). Setting: A regular gathering of the Melbourne Chocolate Lovers Society is interrupted by murder. Taster of the characters: 1. Victim/Chief of Detectives: preferably female. As Victim: mood swings from vivacious to suicidal. As Chief: calm, strong leader who supports audience. 2. Female: pop culture princess. Superficial, beautiful, extroverted, argumentative. 3. Male: controlling in private sphere, fearful in public sphere. Far right wing ideologies. 4. Female: observant wallflower. Highly intelligent, aware, introverted. 5. Either (pref female): charming, charismatic, bubbly, and full of laughter. Also a good listener. 6. Either (pref male): physically disabled, mentally brilliant. Friendly, great sense of humour and able to make people laugh. 7. Female: aged model, well past prime. Vain, panicky, talkative. 8. Either (pref male): deeply religious, but not at peace. Gets frustrated and has a temper, but generally moderate, if disconnected. 9. Either (pref male): community minded, humble, kind, and highly complimentary of other people. Raised overseas (born anywhere). 10. Female: passionate, political (lefty), confrontational, active, driven, confident. Look forward to hearing from you soon.
