Lulu vs Jack the Ripper is a performance / installation being produced for the 2007 Melbourne Fringe Festival. We are producing it as a part of the Festival Hub in North Melbourne.
It is based on the 'Lulu plays' written by influential 19th century German dramatist Frank Wedekind, on 'Pandora’s Box', a silent film based on the same text by Weimar filmmaker G.W. Pabst, and on Louise Brooks, the actor who played Lulu in Pabst’s film.
The central theme of the work is the unpacking of two cultural archetypes: the femme fatale, and the sex killer. This will be done via live performance, video, sound and movement.
We are looking for people who are interested in participating in this installation in any way. Whatever your experience, whatever your background, if this work sounds like something you want to be a part of then please contact me on the email address below.
The performance dates are 28-29th September, 5-6th October & 12-13th October. The performance will run from 8pm – 11pm. Your rehearsal commitments would depend on what your role is in the production.
There will be a compulsory tech/dress rehearsal on one of the evenings of the week of the 28th September.
