Casper Dies

Express Post Productions is looking for actors to audition for a piece to be performed in this year's Melbourne University Mudfest. CASPER DIES is a new and original work, written by Carly Nugent (winner of the UHT 2005 Script Writing award).

Casper believes he is the main character in a play. Since the breakdown of his marriage he has been waiting for his next ‘direction’, trusting that his wife will come back to him and refusing to recognise his son as anything other than an incompetent muse. When Casper's 'direction' comes in the form of a letter reading 'Casper dies', he must choose between the certainty of death in the play world, and a reality that is complicated, but will let him live.

The following roles are being cast:

Casper – middle-aged male; grumpy, yet brilliant writer. Loves Juliette.
Spiegel/Michael – male, late teens to early twenties; Casper’s muse and son. Harbours postmodern tendencies.
Juliette – middle-aged female. Engaged to Victor.
Victor – middle-aged male. Casper’s ex-psychiatrist. Engaged to Juliette. Loves his job.
Byll – middle-aged male; fairly indifferent minor character. Casper’s psychiatrist.
the postman – male or female, any age; delivers mail.
there are two additional smaller roles which require strong physicality.

We are interested in seeing actors of all ages in audition.

Venue and dates of performance will be finalised and given at audition.

Auditions will be held in Joe Nap B, Union House at the University of Melbourne on Friday 11th May (between 5-9pm) and Saturday 12th May (between 12-1pm).
