Shakespeare returns to Marloo.
The Darlington Theatre Players (Inc) are happy to announce that their third season of the 2007 programme will be a production of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet, directed by the award-winning Douglas Sutherland-Bruce.
This lavish production is set in 1495 and the wardrobe (Marjorie De Caux) and set (Richard Coleman) will be impressive.
Tears, love, passion and murder in ancient Verona - what could be better?
We need a large cast of principals and supporting roles:
(Ages are stage ages and an approximation only)
Romeo Male lead 18-25 (must be prepared to learn fencing)
Benvolio Bravo 18-25 (must be prepared to learn fencing
Mercutio Bravo 18-25 (must be prepared to learn fencing)
Tybalt Bravo 20-30 (must be prepared to learn fencing)
Lord Capulet Head of house 45 plus
Lady Capulet 30 plus
Lord Montague Head of house 45 plus
Lady Montague 35 plus
Prince Ruler of Verona 55 plus
Count Paris Suitor for Juliet 20-25
Nurse Juliet’s companion 35-50
Juliet Female lead 14-20
Friar Lawrence Trouble maker 45 plus
And a large array of servants, men, women, ball goers, citizens etcetera – named and un-named, speaking and non-speaking.
Fencing and dancing instruction will be provided.

Auditioners will be required to perform a prepared piece of their own choosing no longer than two minutes as well as read from the play.
The rehearsal period will begin on the 13th May.
Performance dates are: August 31, September 1; 2; 5; 7; 8; 9; 12; 14; 15; 16; 19; 21; 22 and striking the set 22nd.
This is an unmissable chance to act on Marloo’s celebrated stage in one of the greatest plays of the English language
