Shock

The Sutherland Theatre Company will be holding auditions for Brian Clemens’ thriller “Shock” at the Sutherland Memorial School Of Arts, on Thursday 5 April from 7.00pm. Shock ! is a thriller for four men and three women. Air hostess Maggie lives in an isolated house, to which Ann and Maggie’s “latest” – airline pilot Terry – are coming to celebrate her birthday. Maggie has some peculiar tastes, including tape-recording the most private intimacies between herself and her lovers. This indulgence soon causes consternation among the visitors, which include her neighbour Jenny and Jenny’s husband. This culminates in the death of Ann’s fiancé, Steve. A second horrific climax reveals that Maggie has been murdered. Ann, who was very much affected by a recent accident, is distraught when apparently threatened by Jenny; but in the last moments, following Jenny’s disappearance, a final twist proves the relevance of the play’s title. Below is a list of characters and a brief description. Whist the age of the characters are taken from the script, the Director, Judy Kelly, has indicated that she does not need to stick rigidly to these ages and is more than happy to audition males and females from mid 20’s to late 40’s. The characters are: Jenny Rayner – Maggie’s neighbour. An attractive women about 30. Anne Marsh – 35 – 45. Fun and likable. A member of the Airlines ground crew, but looks like a hostess. Terry Dexter – Male. About 40. Handsome airline captain. Anne’s beau. Andy Flewin – 26 years old. Rough and Ready. Appears to be an odd job guy. Peter Rayner – Male . About 30. Handsome. Moves like an athlete. Maggie Millar – A young air hostess. We only ever hear her voice on a tape recorder and see her dead body. Steve Turner – Male. About 30.
