AUDITIONS – THE GONDOLIERS
The Savoy Arts Company Inc is pleased to announce that its 2007 production will be a 6-performance season of Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Gondoliers” at the Zenith Theatre, Chatswood from 24 August to 01 September, plus two lead-up performances at Bundanoon and Collaroy Plateau.
The Artistic Director for the production is Danielle Di-Masi and the Musical Director is Manu Prasad.
SOLOIST AUDITIONS
Auditions for principal roles in both shows will be held from 7:15-9:45 pm over two nights at the Zenith Theatre, Railway & McIntosh Streets, Chatswood. The dates are as follows:
Monday, 12 February
Tuesday, 15 February
We have set aside two nights at the end of February for supplementary auditions and/or recalss if required.
Bookings are essential. If you would like to audition, please call Nicole Taylor on 0414 673 476 [after 6 pm weekdays or on weekends] or email savoy_arts@operamail.com with your details and return telephone number.
At the audition, we ask you to perform a piece from the show to be produced, i.e. a song/aria for the principal role you are seeking. If that is not practicable, the song may be of your own choice. If your own choice, the piece should be selected from the operetta or musical comedy repertoires and sung in English. Ideally, the piece selected should demonstrate the dynamic range of your voice and should be around 2-3 minutes in duration.
You will be given a set piece of dialogue to deliver. The dialogue is chosen by the artistic director and will be available at the reception desk on the night of the audition.
Before the audition, we will ask you to fill out a brief questionnaire that covers your contact details and such details as singing teacher, stage/concert experience and whether you would be available for a different role or chorus if unsuccessful for the particular role auditioned for.
CHORUS AUDITIONS
Those wishing to join the chorus for Yeoman of the Guard will need to be evaluated for voice type and singing and stage movement abilities. The audition will take no more than about 5-10 minutes. Auditions for chorus members will be held at the commencement of rehearsals (Orientation Night), on Tuesday, 01 May 2007 at Roseville Uniting Church Hall, 7 Lord St, Roseville from 7:00-10:00 pm.
