Absurd Productions is holding auditions for its next production "The Bald Soprano" by Eugene Ionesco which will be staged at the Northcote Town Hall in early March. Auditions will take place on Monday Jan 8th and Thursday Jan 11th at Melbourne University in Parkville. The Bald Soprano is the first play by Romanian playwright Eugene Ionesco. Its inspiration was a collection of phrases from an English-language phrasebook. The Bald Soprano is an absurd comedy which attacks the foundations of language. Its lack of plot and coherent structure make this play a wild, wacky and very random adventure. Absurd Productions is a non-for-profit Independent Company in its fourth year. The company has a tradition of staging works by Absurdist Playwrights as well as original projects. Previous projects include: Rhinoceros by Eugene Ionesco and Fando & Lis by Fernando Arrabal.
