Season dates: Thursday 26th April 2007 – Saturday 12th May 2007 Synopsis: Prudence’s therapist is urging her to be more assertive; while Bruce’s therapist urges him to meet someone of the opposite sex by placing a personal ad, not realising that Bruce has a male lover named Bob. Having met each other, Bruce doesn’t know how to handle nervous Prudence; and Prudence doesn’t know what to make of decidedly unpredictable Bruce. How they sort it all out is the story of this delightful comedy. New York accents essential. Cast Required: Bruce: (Male, 30s-40s) A truly 50-50 bisexual; he is equally attracted to both men and women. Bruce has an innocence and a blind optimism that somehow cause confusion and chaos around him. He believes that if he keeps meaning well and trying to be nice to everyone, everything will somehow work out. Prudence: (Female, 30s-40s) An intelligent, independent woman who is also very insecure and vulnerable. Prudence seems quite certain that she'd like to find a good relationship, but very uncertain about what that would be. Bob: (Male, 20s-40s) Bruce's male lover. One of those gay activists who think everyone is gay. Fairly immature and prone to temper tantrums, but not at all effeminate, bitchy or misogynistic. Bob is afraid of losing Bruce to Prudence. Dr. Stuart Framingham: (Male, 30s-50s) Prudence's therapist who has seduced and slept with her. A macho, manipulative bully whose large ego is easily deflated if a woman criticizes his sexual performance. Mrs. Charlotte Wallace: (Female, 30s-50s) Bruce's therapist. She is energetic, optimistic, encouraging and life-affirming… and quite insane. She often has trouble remembering words and makes her Snoopy doll bark to show approval to her patients. However, Mrs. Wallace truly is motivated by a desire to help her patients, and there is a certain wisdom beneath the crazy. Andrew: (Male, 20s-30s) A waiter. Initially polite, but as we get to know him we see that he is tough and a little dangerous with a reform school past.
