Limelight Theatre Co Inc proudly presents (by special arrangement with Dominie Pty. Ltd.) Blood Brothers By Willy Russell March 2007 Cranbourne Community Theatre We are looking for 20 extremely talented individuals to play the various characters that tell this amazing story. As well as the 8 principals, there are 12 ensemble members that play numerous roles throughout the performance. Synopsis: Set in the Liverpool area, ‘Blood Brothers’ tells the tragic tale of fraternal twins who are separated at birth. One brother is raised in a family of great privilege and one brother is raised in poverty. Even with their different socioeconomic backgrounds, the two boys end up becoming best friends until a misunderstanding leads to a tragic ending. Characters: (Age range should be used as a guide only) Mickey — One of the non – identical twin brothers. He is raised in poverty. Age: 20 – 30 but must be able to play a believable child from the age of 7. Voice: Baritone Eddie — The other of the non – identical twin brothers. He is raised by Mrs Lyons with wealth and privilege. Age: 20 – 30 but must also be able to play a believable child from the age of 7. Voice: Tenor Mrs. Johnstone — Mickey & Eddie's superstitious mother who is taunted by her actions. Age: 30 – 50. Must be very good actress and strong singer. Voice: Mezzo Narrator — The storyteller and moral commentator. Age: 20 – 60. Voice: Tenor Mrs. Lyons — Upper Class wife of wealthy businessman who cannot have children of her own so ‘adopts’ Eddie, she is somewhat starved for ‘attention’ & later proves to be neurotic. Age: 34 – 45. Voice: Mezzo Linda — Mickey's ‘girlfriend’ and later his wife. Age: 18+ but also able to play younger teenager. Voice: Mezzo Sa mmy — Mickey's thuggish older brother. Age: 22 – 32 but also able to play younger teenager. Voice: N/A Mr. Lyons — Mrs. Lyon's wealthy husband. Age: 35 – 55. Voice: N/A Auditions  Auditionees must prepare two contrasting songs: 1. one which demonstrates your vocal ability; 2. one in which you demonstrate your ability to show character.  Bring sheet music in the correct key as there will be no requests for transposition  No singing unaccompanied or using prerecorded accompaniment. NB. You may also be asked to read from the script with a Liverpudlian accent Audition Dates: Thursday 19th October 7pm – 11pm Saturday 21st October 2pm – 6pm Thursday 26th October 5.30pm – 8pm Callbacks Workshop Thursday 26th October 8pm – 11pm Audition & Rehearsal Venue: The Old Cheese Factory, Homestead Road, Berwick. Rehearsals will commence on Mondays and Wednesdays from 13th November until 13th December 2006. And recommence on Mondays, Wednesdays & every Sunday from 8th January 2007.
