Closer examines the shifting heterosexual relationships between the four characters; Alice, Anna Dan and Larry. Taking place over several years, the action is focussed on the moments of seduction, betrayal and separation. The season will run Fri Feb 23rd, Sat Feb 24th, Fri 2nd Mar, Sat 3rd Mar, Thur 8th Mar, Fri 9th Mar, Sat 10th Mar at 8pm, and Sun 4th Mar at 5pm. Characters Alice (early 20s) is a young part time stripper, cynical, worldly and fragile. NB One of the strongest scenes in the play takes place at a strip club where Alice dances for Larry. Although Alice remains clothed, she dances, moves and obeys Larry’s instructions during the scene. Please call the director to discuss. Anna (mid 30s) is photographer who is more at home with guilt than happiness. Urbane and insightful Dan (mid 30s) is a would-be-novelist and obituary writer. Romantic, self-involved Larry (mid 30s) is a dermatologist. Blunt, passionate, humorous – in his own words ‘a caveman’ All the characters have moments of honesty and charm as well as cruelty and selfishness. If you have not seen the film then you are at an advantage, as you will need to bring your own experience and understanding to the character.
