Hannah Stone Hannah.G.Stone@student.uts.edu.au 0414 060 938 UTS Short Film Casting Notice My name is Hannah Stone and I am a second year student at the University of Technology, Sydney. I am looking for two actors (one male, one female) to appear in a short, four minute scene that I am directing for a UTS assignment. This will not be not paid work. The scene is taken from Harold Pinter’s Turtle Diary (1985). However, I have my own interpretation of the scene and it’s two main characters - please see below: This scene is about the sea and the secrets that it holds. WILLIAM, a man in his late thirties, works in a rare bookshop that specialises in mythology. NEAERA, a woman in her late twenties, is writing a non-fiction novel on sea mythology: she is comparing mythic tales of sirens that lure men deep into the ocean and real life stories of people who go missing at sea. William has helped Neaera with books that may be useful for her research. He is secretly attracted to her. Neaera comes across an intriguing real-life incident that involves a man who looks exactly like William who went missing at sea several years ago and was never found. That night she dreams about a shark coming out of the deep depths of the water towards. She is intrigued and wants to know if she has uncovered a secret. She decides to confront William. Neaera does not find William at the bookshop, but a staff member hands over his address when she says it is “urgent”. This scene takes place in the evening, at William’s small, one-bedroom apartment. As describe above, I am looking for a man in his mid to late thirties to play WILLIAM, and a woman in her mid to late twenties to play NEAERA. However, anyone who is interested is welcome to apply! Actors must be available for one day of shooting and one day (or half day) of rehearsal. The shoot will take place in late October. Dates are somewhat flexible, depending on actor availability. This shoot will be as professional as possible and I aim to achieve the best possible results. I will provide actors with a DVD, or mini-DVD, of the final result (which can be used on show reels). Feel free to contact me for more details. Hannah Stone (Director)
