LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS - Devlin and Arnel proudly presents the world-famous, off-broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors! Ages 14 - 25 of any level of experience are encouraged to audition for principle, ensemble or dancing roles. Those attending will be required to demonstrate singing, acting and/or dancing ability. AUDITIONS - 2nd and 6th of September The auditions will run for approx. 10 minutes and will be fairly relaxed. If you are looking to general audition, we would prefer you to have a song prepared (with a backing CD or piano sheet music if you choose), however if not, we will provide you with something on the day. We will run through some basic singing scales and an excerpt of dialogue from the script and recommend you arrive around 10 minutes before your audition time, just so as you can fill out audition forms and decide on what script excerpt you will choose for your audition. However if you are interested in a dance audition, they will take place in small groups and will run for approx. half an hour on the 6th. It is advised to wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move around in. Auditions will take place at Montmorency Uniting Church – Cnr. Of Rattray and Mountain View Rd., Montmorency. Melways Ref 21 D6 Rehearsals will also be held at this venue on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6 till 9. The show will be performed at the Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre in early February. He is besotted with fellow worker, Audrey and has a love of collecting strange plants. He is waiting for his chance to break free of Skid Row. Above all, he’s a sweet and well-meaning little man. Audrey Sex: Female Singing range: Soprano, (Low A to high D) Dancing: Minimal A sweet, ditzy vulnerable woman who has a past. She dresses in cheap, tasteless clothes and also works in Mr Mushnik’s Flower store. She dreams of a better life with Seymour. Mr Mushnik Sex: Male Singing style: Bass (low G to high E-flat) Dancing: Minimal The owner of Mushnik’s Flower store. A failure of an East Side florist. His accent, if he has one, is more that of middle class New York than of Eastern Europe. He seldom smiles but often sweats. He is a grim character, who will do anything for a buck. Orin Sex: Male Singing style: Baritone (low C to high G) Dancing: Minimal A tall, dark, handsome dentist with a black leather jacket and sadistic tendencies. He rides a Harley and abuses his girlfriend Audrey. Think of an egotistical pretty-boy who thinks like an insurance salesman. The Voice of Audrey Two (the plant) Sex: Male Singing style: Baritone (low B to high G) Dancing: N/A The plant itself is a series of puppets. However a human is needed to play the villainous voice of the blood eating plant. He has a serious attitude problem and a lot of personality. Provided by an actor on an offstage microphone, it is important that this actor have clear visual access to the puppets onstage, so that he can provide accurate lip-synch. The sound is a cross between Otis Redding, Barry White, and Wolfman Jack. Think of The Voice as that of a street-smart, funky, conniving villain. Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon Sex: Female Dancing: Medium-Intense Young, hip and intelligent street urchins that narrate the show. They are in almost every scene and are seen as ‘Supreme’ style singers. They must have strong personalities and a lot of attitude. Three black female street urchins who function as participants in the action and a Greek Chorus outside it. They’re young, hip, smart and the only people in the whole cast who REALLY know what’s going on. ADDITIONAL ROLES + Dancers are required. We will require approx. 5 people to take on dancing roles, experience essential.
