Steel Magnolias

FRESH on the back of their successful comedy ‘There Goes The Bride’, MATES Theatre Society would like to announce auditions for their production of the classic drama ‘Steel Magnolias’.

‘Steel Magnolias’, written by Robert Harling, is a well known and popular script which has seen terrific success as a film and a stage production about the lives, loves and hardships of six Louisiana women each with different personalities, but who bond together with dry wit and a self-deprecating style to tackle life’s rollercoaster.

Performances of ‘Steel Magnolias’ will take place during weekends in October/November, with one Friday night show to scheduled during the performance season.

A cast of six women is required for the production:

• 4 women between 40 – 60.
• 2 younger women between 18 – late 20s.

As ‘Steel Magnolias’ is set in southern USA, the director wishes to advise that it will be necessary for all characters to be played with a southern accent.
