Be Active BSX-Theatre presents its first major production of the year!
Striptease and Mountain Language by Mrozek and Pinter at the Dolphin Theatre in June.
A contemporary and visceral production of two short works, by two re-known authors, performed by one cast.
Striptease looks at two identically dressed figures chased and trapped by a mysterious force into a small room. The intellectual and the activist battle out their opinions and continue to fight even when forced to strip by a giant hand. A highly energetic and comical work involving puppetry and clowning.
Mountain Language will deliver a short sharp shock. A play of few words by the master of language, Harold Pinter. Focussing on the brutalities of forbidding a minority to speak their own language, it is set within the coldness of a prison. This is a dark world, filled with images of cells, bodies, shadows and natureÂ’s harshest elements.
Directed by Be Active BSX-TheatreÂ’s Artistic Director Matthew Lutton (Bed, The Bald Prima Donna), this will prove to be a unique opportunity to work on two contrasting works.
Be Active BSX-Theatre are looking for an ensemble of a 12 actors to create a production that embraces the ideas and possibilities of contemporary theatre. With a focus on combining text with action and imagery, this work will be developed creatively by the cast with professional support from set designer Bryan Woltjen, music by Ashleigh Greig and lights by Nick Higgens.
You donÂ’t need to prepare anything for the auditions. Each session will be a workshop involving text and movement, and working as an ensemble.
