An exciting new student production company is looking for actors for their upcoming play: Opp Shop.
The play is called 'Opp Shop' and tells the story of a street kid, Will, who is sentenced to a few weeks of Community Service in an Opportunity Shop after being caught doing some petty crime. With the firm but kind guidance of Helena (the shop's manager) and Sergio (the shop's delivery driver), Will is quickly accepted into the Opp Shop's community. He quickly drifts away from his bad influences on the street and makes new beginnings. All is going well for Will until it is discovered that there is a thief working in the shop - he instantly goes under the spotlight. How will he respond? How will the Opp Shop community accept him now?
We need some older people to play the following leads:
Helena - the Opp Shop matriarch. Aged 50 - 65. A strong but kind grandmotherly figure who tries to accept Will for who he is. (I'm thinking Val might be worth a shot for this one?)
Georgia - middle-aged daughter of Helena, doesn't trust Will at all and is waiting to catch him out. She's also the hysterical mother of young Toby.
Sergio - middle-aged delivery driver of ethic background, provides a positive and strong role model for Will for follow. Sergio is a survivor, having pulled himself out of a history of homelessness, drug abuse, war and violence to become a respectable member of society.
Toby - young son of Georgia, about 13 years old. Spoilt little brat!
