AddressThe Blue Room, James St., Northbridge
Starting on February 14th The Method studio will be offering two eight-class drama courses, both taught by Stephen Lee:

METHOD ACTING

All the basics of Stanislavski’s “method” are covered in a series of simple practical exercises. An excellent class for both beginner and more experienced student. Also, since all work is non-text based, an extremely useful way to sharpen and improve your improvisational skills. Learn how easy it is to be both a better improviser and a better actor.

The course covers:

1 The use of Images
2 Units and Objectives
3 Emotion Memory
4 Obstacles
5 Focus
6 Layering
7 Character Acting
8 Playing of Comedy

Every Saturday 10.00 am till 1.00 pm at the Blue Room, James St. $240 for eight classes.

SIMPLE SHAKESPEARE

If you are terrified by the thought of playing Shakespeare, or love his work and would jump at the chance to improve your understanding of him: this is the class for you. Since most work in the course is based around studentsÂ’ playing of individual scenes, you are in full control of both the speed you work at and the level of difficulty you attempt. Stephen Lee has a vast experience of acting and directing Shakespeare for over twenty five years, and he strips away a lot of the nonsense that is often built up around his work, and shows just how simple and easy it can be to understand and enjoy him..

The course covers:

1 The conventions of the Elizabethan / Jacobean stage
2 Verse speaking (FAR, FAR simpler than many would have you think)
3 ShakespeareÂ’s language
4 The Soliloquy
5 The Escalation of Energy (some actors work on the Bard for years and never learn this vital technique)
6 Use of Imagery

No actor should leave this facet of their skill untouched. ItÂ’s a bit like a soccer player who never plays in a World Cup. The man is a total joy to act, and hugely rewarding to work on. Book a course now.

Every Saturday 2.00 pm till 5.00 pm at the Blue Room, James St. $240 for eight classes.
