Queenie van de Zandt is a well-known and highly regarded actor, singer, writer, and teacher and is without a doubt one of AustraliaÂ’s musical theatre stars. With a string of high profile performances all over Australia during 2003, she is definitely one of AustraliaÂ’s busiest performers. Later this year, Queenie will star as Vicki Nichols in the Australian touring production of The Full Monty - The Musical (alongside Paul Mercurio, Michael Veitch), opening in Melbourne.

In September and October Queenie will be touring Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra presenting her Master-classes in Auditioning for Musical Theatre.
Queenie has developed quite a reputation for her intensive master-class for adults and workshop for children which she began teaching in 1999. The master-classes are ideal for professional actors, singers and dancers, amateur performers, teachers, and anyone aspiring to greater success in auditioning. A high percentage of previous participants have gained entry to acting schools and been cast in musicals after completing QueenieÂ’s course.

The stimulating and information-packed adult master-class runs over four days. Queenie guides the participants through the elements of audition technique and song performance that separate successful performers from the rest of the pack. There is a large practical element with each student working intensively with Queenie and a musical director. Students leave the course feeling empowered, equipped with the knowledge and techniques that will give them the edge in the audition situation.

The childrenÂ’s workshop is an informative and fun one-day session where the emphasis is on learning through fun, positive reinforcement and confidence building. Through improvisation games, scene work, group singing and role-play the audition process is de-mystified and children come to feel confident of what is expected of them in an audition situation. Using material from musicals such as The Lion King, Oliver, and Annie, Queenie sparks childrenÂ’s imaginations and sends them home singing!

She brings to her master-classes, not only this wealth of experience but also fine communication skills, a passion for theatre, a warm and positive nature and a wonderful sense of humour.
