As a result of auditions held Sunday, August 24, the following parts remain uncast, enabling you to be a part of this madcap comedy musical based on the 1980s TV show 'Monkey Magic':
SANDY - fish-spirit pilgrim. Intelligent, philosophical and aloof. A lot of lines and a lead charcter. Non-singing role requiring a good clear Asian accent.
TRIPITAKA - the boy priest, however this part is for our actresses! A strict Buddhist, kind and always willing to help. Another lead role, non-singing, requiring Asian accent also.
SPIRIT DEMON/BINJA - two characters in one! Binja is a monk at the monastery who is always drunk. Very ocker in mannerism and speech. As the Spirit Demon, the role is for the archetypal villain who answers to no-one, except his demandind daughter. Some choreography and fight choreography for this part, plus one song number - "Mama Said Knock You Out" by LL Cool J, a rap song from the 90s.
We also need AT LEAST five singer/dancers (1 F, 4 M) to join our chorus. This is a great show for chorus as you're almost always on stage and you do all singing...there are also four soloist parts which have not yet been selected.
