One male actor required for short one act absurdist drama to be performed in the Metro Arts Centre September 14th – 21st 2003. Applicants must have actor training or industry experience.
Synopsis: Forever, Mother is an absurd drama about the lives of a mother and daughter whose relationship has become a series of destructive patterns and lies. Their co-dependent existence is altered irrevocably when a young grocery delivery boy named Fender proposes marriage to the daughter, Emily.
Character description: The author’s description of Fender is ‘an awkward, lanky man who is still treated like a boy by the world. He doesn’t know how to dress to follow trends and he doesn’t talk to many people.’ He has been delivering groceries to Emily and her mother for at least 5 years. He is shy, sensitive and sincere. Age range 25-30.
Actors will be required to perform one 3 minute contemporary monologue of your choice and may be asked to workshop a scene from the play.
The production will be an Australian premiere and salary will be on a profit share basis.
