THE MURDERER'S BARBEQUE
By Max Davis
*PLAY TO BE CONFIRMED
A young convicted psychotic murderer Mickey Broome is released after five years, on day leave, as an experiment in Penal Reform. He returns to his familyÂ’s suburban home for his traditional birthday BBQ, but finding them gone, settles down to a barbeque with guests (the audience) in the backyard. And while the steak and sausages sizzle, he relives his past and explores, issues of life, death, victims and justice, current rock bands, kinky sex and the death penalty. A ONE-MAN show.
A site specific production to be presented in a real suburban backyard in Melbourne, Victoria. Originally presented at La Mama's Birthday Season, Melbourne, Australia in 1988.
*CAST REQUIRED
Mickey Broome - Tall, 6', good-looking, well-built (worked out in Prison), average Australian bloke - with a difference (he's a psychopath).
