Experienced actors are still being sought for the 12th Century love story, Abelard and Heloise. This is a powerfully written play with some great roles and dialogue.

Still required are:

HELOISE

Actor age range: 19-25

Character description: Attractive, intelligent and passionate young woman who travels an emotional path from student to lover to wife to nun.

Special requirements: Must be prepared to kiss a man in his forties and appear briefly in nude or body stocking.

GILLES

Actor age range: 30-60

Character description: A respected Canon of the Church who is friend and mentor to Abelard and Heloise.

Special requirements: Must have heavy build or portly appearance and be able to play a 60 year old man. (Timothy West played Gilles in the London production.)

GUIBERT

Actor age range: 18-40

Character description: Servant of Abelard and ultimately his betrayer. Seeks love from a prostitute.

Special requirements: Must have good singing ability for one song.

MONKS/STUDENTS

Actor age range: 18-30

Character description: On stage much of the time but few lines. They create atmosphere by whispering, chanting etc.

Special requirements: None.
