AUDITIONS for our July Season of the true life and death courtroom drama of Harry (Breaker)Morant will be held at the Old Mill Theatre on Sunday March 9th from 2.30 pm.
director Garry Lawrence is looking for a large cast (15 - 18) of males for this dramatic play. A wide range of roles and ages will be required.
The main characters are as follows:Note all ages given are stage ages
Lt Harry Morant 30-40 accent refined Aust
Lt Peter Handcock 20+ accent broad Aussie
Lt George Witton 20+ accent educated Aust
these are the three defendants.
Major Thomas 30+ accent educated Aust(Defence Lawyer)
Major Bolton 30+ accent educated English (Prosecutor)
Herbert Kitchener C in C. 50ish accent upper
English
Lt Col Hamilton 40 ish accent upper English (C in C's Secretary)
Lt Col Denny 40-50 accent upper English (Court President)
Dr Johnson 40-50 Africaans
Trooper Van Royn 20+ Boer
Trooper Botha 20+ Boer
Mr Robertson 30-40 accent English
Sgt Major Drummitt 30ish accent English

Various court room persons all ages
and last but not least a brief, but important role of Daisy Bates, 20ish with whom Breaker is said to have had a romantic interlude.
There is too much to write here about the play and our interpretation but many groups have already become involved from the Army to the RSL to the Men in Harmony who will provide a strong vocal military support.
