This is a dark comedy about the agoraphobic LV who lives with her loud, abrasive, alcoholic mother, Mari in her DadÂ’s crumbling record shop. LV has developed a talent for impersonating such famous singers as Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey, Marlene Deitrich, Cilla Black and Marilyn Monroe. MariÂ’s latest boyfriend is a washed up showbiz promoter who hears LV sing and thinks she could be his ticket to the big time and fame and fortune. This is a wonderfully written piece filled with raw humour but it is also a solid, human story. All roles are substantial and challenging and will require experienced actors.
Characters:

LV, small and shy. 20Â’s. Must be able to impersonate some singers of the 50Â’s, 60Â’s or 70Â’s. Will be required to sing on stage

Mari, LVÂ’s Mum. An overbearing, loud, alcoholic Late 40Â’s to early 50Â’s

Ray, A washed up, selfish, hard drinking opportunistic talent agent in his 50ish

Billy, A shy stuttering phone repairman who takes a shine to LV. 20Â’s

Mr Boo, The owner of the nightclub where Ray arranges for LV to sing. 40Â’s or 50Â’s

Sadie, MariÂ’s next door neighbour and workmate. Suffers verbal abuse from Mari . 30Â’s or 40Â’s and needs to be of large build. Will probably need to be padded up.

Singing auditions for the role of Little Voice will be held on Tuesday, October 22. Pianist will be available if you require accompaniment but please bring your own music. Acting auditions for all roles will be held on Wednesday, October 23. Season is March 2003.
